Okay, Elze has finally posted her collection of photos from Dawkins’ appearance last week, and these include some nice shots from the pre-speech reception. I’ve been reluctant to post the link, though, because they also include a couple of depressing shots of me at the AE Blog Meetup, in which I look to weigh about 653 pounds. Given that I was something of a major gym rat ten years ago, these are…ahem…well, let’s just say I pre-emptively accept every morsel of ridicule with which I’m about to be heaped, and let it go at that. Meanwhile, I think it’s time to dig out the MetRX and the creatine and wheel on down to Gold’s — where I suspect I’ll be pelted with water bottles and dirty jockstraps the minute I walk in the door. O the ignominy.

Don’t feel bad. I look like crap in almost every ACA photo wrap up for any ACA event ever published online. Cameras just don’t love everyone. I’m guessing you look worse to yourself than to other people. I’ve never seen you in person, and I wouldn’t have thought twice about your photos if you hadn’t called out that you’d gained some weight over the years. I have no basis for comparison–so, to me, you just look like a guy in a photo.

You know they say the camera adds 10 pounds. In my case it looks like the camera stuffed me full of a couple of extra Martins.I’ve got a dog, dammit. No reason I couldn’t load him in the car and make a jog around Town Lake part of my daily routine. Meet chicks that way too…

I don’t think you look fat in those pictures. I don’t post pictures where I think people look bad in them. Same is true about photos of Tracie. I’ve only published the ones I think she looks good in. A lot of people are critical of the way they look in pictures, including me.By the way, if you know the names of people I labeled as “unidentified”, could you please let me know? Some of them are probably your readers?
