American is a Christian Nation!
While Dennis Terry is a “respected” voice amongst Rick Santorum’s conservative base, it probably was a bad idea to have a recordable media device at any event where both men should meet. Thankfully there was and hilarity has ensued.
Dennis Terry delivered a heartwarming introduction of Mr. Santorum:
“If you don’t love America, If you don’t like how we [conservative evangelical Christians] do things. I have one thing to say. GET OUT”
Terry wrapped that sentence of compassion with a proclamation that America is a Christian nation and an assertion that we don’t pray to a litany of other non-existent deities.
Rick Santorum stood and clapped for this… Never have I wanted him to win the nomination so much, if only to be destroyed when the general electorate starts paying attention to who this guy is and what he really stands for.
Wishful thinking aside, Romney, the ever astute politician, jumped right in to the issue to capture any moderates driven off by this latest stink. Mr. Terry is also trying to claim that the media misquoted him and is making his statements appear more controversial then they were in reality.
Meanwhile back in reality, Right Wing Watch posted the entire video and I don’t think context (especially the church and state portion) does anything to lessen the controversy.
The liberal media is often used in this way. Claims of quote distortion are hurled because many people will take it at face value. The liberal media is, of course, pure evil. Since it tries to inform people with a narrative of reality that doesn’t sit well in the conservative gut and reality has a bad habit of being uncomfortable. But perhaps making decisions based upon what one’s gut tells them is not as effective as using one’s brain.

That is one of the great things about youtube and the internet age. Whenever someone is caught out doing something appalling and they lie about it, claiming they were taken out of context, the full video is often available

I think this really has helped tank Santorum. The establishment Repubs will be even more opposed to him now as unelectable.

Did you know your gut has more nerve endings than your brain?

And where does the information from those endings go to be processed

“Large numbers of neurons are contained in the enteric nervous system, about 200-600 million in human. This is far more neurons than occurs in any other peripheral organ and is similar to the number of neurons in the spinal cord.”
And far less than the brain.

You just think that because you read it in a book. Next time, look it up in your gut.
Evidently some people here aren’t familiar with the anatomical magnum opus of the eminent physician Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, D.F.A.

Does Dennis Terry consider Catholics, like Frothy, real Christians? Do we know?

Santorum may be a Catholic but he’s a fundamentalist Catholic. That makes him an honorary Christian for folks like Terry.

It depends — Catholics, according to the fundies, are either true Christians or evil cult members — depending on what happens to be convenient for them at the time.

I dont know if I should hope that Santorum wins the nomination so he can get destroyed, or if even the barest chance of him winning is too terrifying to contemplate…
