Jay-Z supports Occupy Wall Street without actually supporting OWS.
Jay-Z’s apparel company, Rocawear, has a hot new shirt for sale that they hope will sell like hotcakes. (by some accounts it already is)

They even released a statement about the intent of the shirt which sounds well and good before you get to the last sentence.
“The ‘Occupy All Streets’ T shirt was created in support of the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. ‘Occupy All Streets’ is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.” – Rocawear statement to Business Insider.
Wow, nice move there. Make a bundle “supporting” an anti-corporate movement with your own corporation and leave out any actual support for the people freezing their asses off, getting whooped on by cops, and shitted on by the media. Because in the end, those shirts wouldn’t sell nearly as well if not for the real protestors out there, but since they are a bunch of “hippy-communists” (as some media sources continue to paint them) it is far more cost effective to just say “fuck em,” and keep all that green for yourself.

Jay-Z net worth – $400+ million.
But he started with nothing: no trust fund, ivy league education, or job at daddy’s brokerage. His wealth appears to have come largely from selling people things that make them happy, not weapons, support for the military/industrial complex, or political chicanery. I think I am impressed by Mr. Carter and will remain so as long as he doesn’t buy “mayor of New York City” or start identifying as a member of the oligarchy.
