Meet Virginia

I am now out of Iraq! For the next few weeks I will be at lovely Camp Virginia as the pullout from Iraq continues at a breakneck pace. Best of all, this place has a Starbucks, so I know America is just a step away. Once I figure out my work schedule here and catch up on some reading over the intertubes, posts will resume.

That is some good news AA !~! Thanks for sharing. I read it to my husband and he cheered in his understated way, repeating “Gettin’ ‘em out, Boss, gettin’ ‘em out.”

Broadband is not so broad, so many people are throttling through Virgina right now, everything is slow. Plus my tent is so far away from a hub that my only connection is the Starbucks. Food is good at least, and unlike Warrior they have a DFAC that is open for food 24/7!!

Since you are now out of Iraq, shouldn’t you be changing your “about the author” introduction?

Also, I am always amused to see atheists supporting the American War Machine.

Of course, its not that atheists, historically, have been opposed to killing, but I am suprised that they pride themselves on “reason” while they serve some of the causes they do.

It gets changed as soon as I drink my first real beer back home 😉

The American War Machine and I have a love/hate relationship, but I am a glutton for punishment. But long ago my daddy told me, “Son, 90% of the people in this world are inert, they won’t go out of their way to help you or hurt you. 6% are jackasses, who will do everything in their power to hurt everyone around them because that is their nature. 4% are good people, who always extend a helping hand. I challenge you to find the 4%, if only to be able to measure where you fall.”

So I looked around, found the Army. They paid for college and taught me some hard lessons of life and the world. Now I look at it and realize that 90% of the Army is inert, 6% are jackasses, and 4% are outstanding people, which perplexed the hell outta me. The sad fact that I have accepted is that violence has been in man’s nature since one ape hit another with a rock. As long as there are people with free will, there will be warriors. So wouldn’t you want some of those warriors to be atheists?

I am opposed to killing, and did my best to just arrest the bad guys rather than toss them the game over card. But I feel bad about doing that, even when no other options presented themselves. In the end, I think thats the point.

So you feel bad about having to kill?

I am sure the dead feel better about that. But like Clarissa said, since when have atheists been opposed to killing?

They killed Millions of Christians in Officially Atheistic countries in the past, and its still going on.

        Who ya kiddin?
