This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen in my life. Go. Watch. Enjoy.

Ashley's co-blogger is a third year student at Northwestern University who runs on coffee and snark. . At some point, she'd like to make people sit on couches and tell her about their feelings, but right now she writes in different places around the internet and makes silly faces when she doesn't know what to say. She's the president of her local Secular Student Alliance affiliate, and she is on the Secular Woman speakers bureau. Opinions do not necessarily reflect those of the Secular Student Alliance

I actually really disliked this clip. All he did was give them a platform to spread their hatred, and went even further by putting people who are supposedly his friends on the stage to be further verbally abused. All to accomplish what?

Was the amazing part that he didn’t punch them in the mouth? Who learned what here? So Brand is a nice guy and the Westboro dudes are like the villains out of some horror movie. But the audience didn’t learn much. They were allowed to believe that these guys are like Jehovah’s Witnesses, trying to save people because they care about people. Even if the WBC guys are manifesting it in some bizarro “I am hitting you because I love you” abuse pathology. The audience didn’t learn about WBC’s lawyers and how the whole thing is a sociopathic scam to make mone, w
So no, not the most awesome interview ever. Kind of a fail. Pretty much a typical talk show episode where they decide to bring on some controversial guest and then totally duck really confronting anything. If everyone was wearing bell bottoms, Mike Douglas could practically have done this one.

I think I really appreciate Brand’s ability to completely undermine and intellectually dismantle their message without ever being hostile or mean to them.
Who is Mike Douglas?

Mike Douglas was a talkshow host from the 70′s. Sorta like Merv Griffin.
Yeah I don’t think Brand did anything to dismantle their arguement. He just countered their ridiculous arguement that the bible should be taken literally with an equally ridiculous arguement that the bible should be taken symbolically.
Dismantling their arguement would have required Brand to show why the bible should not be taken seriously. It’s fiction and therefore we shouldn’t be opressing others based on what it says. That’s what brand should have done.

Wait, wasn’t Russell Brand the jackass who halted some movie production until some makeup/wardrobe woman agreed to flash him?
Anyways, yeah, the clip was gone, so I can’t comment on it’s content, but I’ve got issues with the whole coerced ‘show me your tits’ thing…
