Malala Yousufzai

I love this girl.  How could you not?  And her story evoked my favorite quote from any media source this whole year:

Religious extremists all make the same mistake.  They all fail to understand that all of the foundational holy books of major religions -all of them- have really really crazy dangerous stuff in them; stuff that was written by men, men who were not just fallible, but men who were wrong.

There is also this gem:

There is not one follower of the holy Bible left on Earth who believes there should be a death penalty for not observing the sabbath.

“Religion poison everything”… especially minds. All religions fear an educated mind, keeping people in ignorance is their only hope of having them believe/fear their bronze aged fairy tales.

I last heard this young lady has about a 70% chance of surviving after the surgery to remove the bullet.

The primitive animals that commit these atrocities should be thrown in jail and the key tossed away for ever.

The person who shot this young woman should be easy enough to find, just look for a guy with no balls. Things like this make me want to rant, I don’t want to take up too much of your time. Usually I enjoy your posts, this one is heart breaking. I had read the headlines but now after hearing and seeing this child, I find myself wanting to avenge her in someway. I hope to see the day when we (the people of the world) ban killing in the name of god(s). If a god doesn’t like something it’s up to that god to get off his/her lazy ass and do their own dirty work.

I’m a guy with no balls, and I can assure you I wouldn’t shoot anybody.

Anger is understandable right now, but ciscentrist slurs that hurt trans people are never necessary.

Not trying to offend you. Where I come from “No Balls” is an expression meaning “No Courage.” Technically, I have no balls – and I wasn’t implying a woman did this either. I was angry and ranting over someone being so evil and hurting this child, all the while thinking they were serving their imaginary friend at the same time.

Honestly ciscentrist is a new word for me. Please be patient, I’m still learning.

I’m familiar with the association. It’s hurtful because it implies that men without the “proper” genitalia are worth less, shameful, or inferior. It’s common to also make disparaging commentary on the size of genitalia, which is also ciscentrist and hurtful for the same reason. On top of this, associating levels of courage with certain (male) genitalia is an inherently sexist notion, since it implies that courage is a “man thing” (and even then, only the “right” kind of man with the “right” kind of genitalia). I’m not calling you sexist, mind; it’s the commentary that comes from sexist roots.

These sorts of associations are pretty taken for granted by a lot of folks. I’m glad you’re willing to listen and learn.

“Honestly ciscentrist is a new word for me.”

A Cis person (short for cisgendered) is someone whose gender identity matches the gender they are born as, i.e. the opposite of transgender. So I guess ciscentrism is insensitivity to trans people born of not considering their viewpoint? :-/ It’s a new one for me too, and probably something I am guilty of quite often considering the above example. Something new for me to consider.

Always killing the defenseless, the common threat among cowards…ahh, terrorists. No matter if Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs or whatever.
Not to forget the soldiers who kill civilians in night raids, by drones, from helicopter gunships or eliminating a family with a machine gun.
