Celebrity Pornography

So famous people take naked photos of themselves.

It isn’t just the very amusingly named Anthony Weiner who is a fan of pictures of genitals. Turns out? People who have access to a camera and privacy invariably like taking pictures of themselves or others nude. With the advent of camera phones the naked selfie is much more common.  [Read more…]

A Voice For Me! – Janet Bloomfield and #Gamergate Slander Anita Sarkeesian using Anime

Let us be clear on this. I am a nerd. When I write about this, I feel the need to prove my geek side.

I love a lot of nerdy things. I used to do table top games ranging from Pathfinder and D&D to things like obscure games. If you talked to me about Lunch Money, I would mention Beer Money. If you asked me about gaming? I would point out that I spent most of my school lunch hours playing Soul Calibur and Power Stone. I played played Warhammer. I lived in the arcade heavy parts of the Middle East. I am not an expert gamer with some fancy rig but I do know my Grand Theft Autos from my Saint’s Row. [Read more…]

Thug In Velvet – Revisited

Around a decade ago there was a watershed in Indian culture.

We saw a concept come about in India and abroad.

It was called the New Indian Male. The very idea of the New Indian Male was a gentleman. He wore clothes that fit and wasn’t picked out by his mother. He understood fashion. He was gentler, kinder and indeed “more in touch with his feminine side”. His image on the big screen and in populist media was not one of the country boy or poor, but a middle class hero and his actions resonated the most with that demographic. In the minority of India that is Upper Middle Class this may hold true. More men broke gender roles and cooked, cleaned and raised children and this allowed more women to break out of those traditional roles and do non-traditional roles such as working. More men cleaned up themselves and after themselves. But what happened? Why have we shifted out of that? [Read more…]

Like a Hugo Baws – Vox Day 2

I wrote about my take on the Hugo Awards and the fact Vox Day was nominated. It’s simple, if he is nominated and in the interest of free speech, I can write an article  pointing out he is a racist, sexist, homophobe and all round terrible human being and that we should not vote for him or encourage such behaviour among a community which lacks for diversity and where minorities often find themselves being judged for “realness”.

But people took umbrage to that. And sent me this. [Read more…]

A Voice for Me – Equality? Men’s Issues? Fuck no! We just hate broads!

Part of the dialogue with the Men’s Rights Movement is about how there are so many issues involving men. I agree, there are many issues involving men in an equal world. And that the Men’s Rights Movement is ideally placed to not just lobby for equal rights but to push for changes in issues that negatively affect men.

Instead? The MRA and MRM are more interested in misogyny, hating women and generally being a hate group hiding behind the original mission. The MRA do not try and change the dialogue regarding men, they try and silence women.

So in recent days? This has involved viewing Indian MRA complain about the anti-dowry and anti-rape laws of India. This has also seen MRA fail to realise that there are Gay, Queer and Trans men out there who do require help. And by fail to realise, I mean ignore and harass. [Read more…]

Age of Kali – Nirbhaya, 365 Days, Rape and India

I love how the slymepit empathically (metaphorically) rape the #ftbullies. It’s not even a fair fight. It’s heroes vs zeros. – Anonymous

I like the fact that the OP used “Empathic Rape” without any idea of what the word “Oxymoron” means. I am going to assume that this was said by someone who isn’t part of the Slymepit because this sort of thing never comes from the pit, just from people who like the place.

See the person here cares little for the victims of rape and just wants to elicit the “pearl clutching” response from Social Justice blogs. But the funny thing is this. It’s one of the first tweets I saw after I got back from standing on the side lines with a bag of medicine as a protest took place. And the coincidence is that I did this a year ago too. A Voice for Me – Fake Rape and Not Helping Anyone

One of the problems with the MRA community is that the genuine issues that affect men tends to get ignored in exchange for simply bashing a straw (wo)man. It’s easy to dismiss it as the last hurrah of the privileged losing their privileges.

It was the victim of a “fake rape” accusation. There are two opinions as to why I was accused of raping a woman at TAM (an Event I Never Attended). One it was a casual effort to silence me among the myriad other demands to keep me quiet. Or two it was an argument being made against PZ Myers and I was just “collateral damage”. A fair target for many since they insist my problem is not my statements but the soapbox I stand on.

And I pointed out that this accusation didn’t help anyone. It didn’t help the victims of rape. It didn’t help me. It didn’t help the victims of fake rape accusations. All it did was add a case where I had to defend myself against frankly slanderous comments made under the aegis of anonymity. Women would be told how this case was another example of fake rape that is “so common”. And male victims of fake rape would be harassed as much. [Read more…]
