Dinesh D’Souza – Forget about the Past

IMG_739757496861989

Dinesh fucks over his own argument here.

See? Black people were the most visible face of racism in America. The racism also touched white people such as Jews, Poles and Irish who were not treated all that well. But Indians and Chinese were also treated as “coloured people”. If we forgot about segregation and slavery Dinesh D’Souza would not be allowed to run for power. He owes his political career solely due to the struggles of Black Americans who fought against racism and slavery.

But let us compare the two things. One is a set of social and economic issues that arose from slavery and systemic institutionalised and overt racism that lead to the current status quo. The other was a pointless political demonstration.

The cold war is over. Rather than make new friends and move forward the USA was acting like a spoilt child bullying a tiny nation. It could have been a positive influence on the region, instead it shuttered it’s doors and created animosity.

Dinesh just wants more of the same.

Then again, if Obama said that running head first into walls was stupid, many conservatives would respond that being unconscious at the base of a wall is actually a sign of genius.

Elizabeth Lauten – A Note From An Ex-Teenage Dirtbag

I want a tattoo.

See? Indian Culture is seeing a Tattoo renaissance, it used to play a big role in my culture but it lost out to the actions of Victorians and Christian Revivalists who claimed that the Tattoos of our Hindu/Animist past were superficial and invited Satan into your lives.

I would want something medical to celebrate my achievement. I don’t know what I would like yet, but it is something I cannot take lightly.

For those who have seen me online during the Google Hangouts I sometimes slink about in? You may notice I shave my head. The reason I started doing that was two fold.

Firstly? When I was younger I had hair that was rebellious. I dyed my hair Red/Blue and had spikes in it. Lots of product. When I joined Medical School I had to change

Secondly? I lost my hair. My hair never grew back properly after my childhood and my hair began to fall aged 18.

Shaving my head was a fashion choice as much as a choice of rebellion. It was a skinhead cut, the ultimate rebellion for an Indian Man. A shaved head is for those in mourning or in penance.  [Read more…]

Sam Harris – Irony is Going to War for Olive Branches

I wrote a response to Sam Harris. It made the rounds as one of the few people who were atheist who were willing to speak out against a “Horseman” of atheism. I faced down everything, from the accusations of “drama blogging” and being contrary for the sake of it. To siding with terrorists. And the ever popular claim of “Secret Muslim” made a showing.

But at the core of my argument was me pointing out that the heart of the conflict was entirely based on ownership of land. And that in the grand scheme of things, Sam Harris has forgotten that the Palestinians are indeed the defenders and have suffered abuse upon abuse and attacks on their secular notions giving power to the only untouched institution that is religion. The secular PLO got sidelined and the hard-line Hamas came to greater power until it became what everyone feared. The elected representatives of the Palestinians.  [Read more…]

Big Red Rape – Steubenville’s Aftermath and the “Free Ride” for Sports

A scholarship to play sport?

That’s amazing sign me up!

In the UK we have a system of youth sports teams that have under 15s under 16s and under 18s. These teams are free to try out for but these are “professional” teams. They are the feeders for our professional football clubs. Many of these players in the Under 16s and under 18s are often salaried or given a sizeable sum of money for playing.

This stops sport from being linked to university. It stops the University from earning money through sports and making it profitable to concentrate on sport before it concentrates on education. We do have University sports and University teams, it is just that these teams are often just “normal students” who happen to be good at sport. The University Boat Race for example is not crewed by ringers given seats solely for the purpose of boat race victory but by young men (and now women) who engage in the University Societies and choose to participate in sports. How to Cripple Healthcare

This isn’t up for debate really. A socialised medical system is pound for pound the most cost effective method of guaranteeing the health of a population.due to a large emphasis on preventative medicine, subsidised costs, economies of scale and the like.

Now people look at the NHS bloat and don’t realise that the bloat is bad but not as bad as the USA’s. The US government spends nearly double what we do for a slightly worse system of healthcare with regards to outcomes.

In addition? The privatised medical sector played a large part in the destruction of the economy. One of the major reason for bankruptcy and foreclosure or indeed taking out a overdrawn sub-prime was healthcare costs.

So along came Obama Care and IMHO it’s not enough. It’s propping up a failing system. You may as well go the whole hog really. [Read more…]
