A Voice For Me – Emma Watson and the MRA

I have spoken to Dean Esmay before. Albeit on twitter where the 140 limit does not lend itself to great conversation. I found a rather strange individual who simply was out of depth in the kind of world of misogyny we exist in. He is a man who (if we speak kindly) doesn’t get misogyny and bigotry.

Atheism’s MRA Problem

There was a piece of research done on the MRA of r/mensrights on Reddit which showed that they are mainly White, Young and Atheist. Now I know there was a bot entering values so it should be discounted but I do think there are is a fairly large representation of MRA or their ideas that are vocal among atheists.

This one’s by Grimachu and there are problems with this. And the major one is the request for dialogue while simultaneously excusing bad behaviour. This has always been a problem.

See the notion is that we are at fault. That FTB is a monolith. Never mind the fact that I noticed the slymepit coo gleefully over my stance against certain A+ members and indeed feminists over FGM without realising that feminism is itself not a monolith.

And while MRA may have become a slur, it is a slur brought on by the actions of MRA. The MRA have not worked to help men but to fuck over women. While Grimachu starts off here we will see what this entails later in the dialogue. [Read more…]

Jillboots – The Goal of Feminism

This was rather puzzling, in light of a post I had this shoved into the inbox of my email.

Again, people insist the MRA have nothing but the best intentions for men. And I repeatedly say “they do not, they just hate women and want women to suffer”. They bemoan the loss of historical privilege. Their big complaint is that they have to treat women as equals in a world where they are expected to be considerate of others.

So this is a list, a hilarious list of things that are wrong about what I do. The joke is I never really considered myself as a feminist. Others did. I picked up feminism through simply treating women as equals and being considerate. That’s really all I think you need.  [Read more…]

Short Hair Blues

There is an article going about about short hair.

I started going bald young, I don’t know why, the doctors suggested it was due to injuries sustained when younger.

And for a long time it was a terrible thing. I tried everything. Rogaine to everyone’s natural medicine suggestions. Until finally I had to shave my head. I had an interview and let’s just say I covered for my loss of hair with stupid dye jobs.

At the time when I did it, baldness as a male hair style was becoming fashionable and still there were people who would deride my choice of hair. Particularly after moving to India, going bald was pitied.

And for a while I bought into it. Being bald sucked, mainly because women didn’t see it as attractive and because I lacked confidence (which was probably the reason why it was not attractive). I have even had patients who have far more serious conditions than me  pity me when I say that the reason I am bald is not religious but because I lost my hair. It’s just them.

In India though, hair is linked to virility. I guarantee you this, no event is as pleasurable for a man as an indian barber. Imagine a proper haircut for a few dollars (something that would cost you well into the $30 to $40 bracket out in the USA or UK), a massage and a shave with a straight edge razor (both to and against the grain). It is luxury incarnate to experience and cheap as chips. [Read more…]

Age of Kali – Thunderfoot – All India Backchod, Rape and Asking For It

Some people really don’t get why something is bad or harmful or not helpful to everyone involved.

Thunderfoot… for those who are unaware was and indeed still is a big deal among the atheist community. Back in the great creationist wars, he was in effect the biggest anti-creationist on the Youtubes.

A big deal all in all.

But then came his sudden and (IMHO) inexplicable assault on feminism and women in general. From his brief stint at FTB before I joined up resulting in one weird interview and the beginning of the Anti-FTB malarky to his frankly one sided take on Anita Sarkeesian.

But this?

There are many things wrong here. [Read more…]

A Voice for Me – Who Died and made Paul Elam the Rapefinder General?

This I got sent by a friend of mine in my other life.

You know. The one where I use my real name. And he agrees with Mr. Elam.

It’s always amusing to be told by my friends to read things here. Many don’t realise who I am. It’s kind of like being Batman.

But I digress. It’s shocking when someone you know agrees with Mr. Elam. [Read more…]

A Voice for Me – Pet Rock

[warning]TW – Rape, Violence, Acid Throwing – This is a labour of hate. This is a gigantic rant over 8 hours in the making. This charts the absolute depths A Voice for men has plummeted in a recent article. It is long. It is not fun. It is terrible. I joke about it but I have to otherwise we will spend 18,600 words weeping at the heartlessness of the author.[/warning]

A Voice for Me – Once a Good Girl Goes Bad

There is a consistent problem within the various MRA spheres particularly the Indian one bemoaning “Women/Girls these Days”.

Basically? MRA don’t like what’s happened to women. No longer are they docile. No longer do their lives revolve around men and how to please them. It’s not that men’s power has been eroded but women have been gaining the same power that men have. And this frightens a generation of men brought up to think that women will like them no matter what.

And this causes them to wax poetical about it. [Read more…]
