Why Are They Angry

People marched on the Chief Minister’s Office in Lucknow today by the hundreds only to be repelled by the police using batons and water cannon.

Enraged by the attempts to dispel the crowd, more protesters are on the way. The reason people are angry is the rape and murder of two young girls.  [Read more...]

Skateistan

What we see here are photos from the Skateistan School in Afghanistan.

It was a school to try and get kids enjoying something as banal as skateboarding. And these photos were take in 2012.

Since then four have been killed. Victims of an attack by a suicide bomber. Because the little pleasures in life and an opportunity to see children smile?

Age of Kali – This Morning in Chennai

This morning at Chennai Central Train Station there was a terror attack.

So far one woman died and 14 people are injured.

Two are critical.

I was not at the train station at the time, but it is on my normal route when I travel out for village work. Today is May Day, so I took a day off to read and get ready for exams.

So far no one knows who did it apart from the usual…. Epic Fucklords.

The young lady who died is just 24.

Age of Kali – Hotel Relax? Not Really

You do not dictate honour, others heap it on you. It lies like a coat, easily shrugged off. It does not define you. [Read more...]

Devyani Khobragrade – The Real Shame is Slavery

This is a storm in a tea cup story in the USA, but in India this was major news and the reaction of the Indian Government and the loudest voices is appalling.

I wrote about what makes someone a fanatic, whether it be the sort of man who could callously order his starving soldiers to charge an enemy and die killing as many of them as possible or visiting the most awful violence because you believe another person is inferior and not human… All of it stems from an ethical code that is not flexible and a systemic belief that you can do no wrong. Your actions are good otherwise you would not be doing it. [Read more...]
