A Voice for Me – A Firestorm of Helmet Bunnies, Sluts and Rape

[important]TW- Rape, Victim Blaming, Suicide, Depression[/important]

I recently came across this word in a twitter discussion (OKAY, Raging Argument) with Dean Esmay and Judgy Bitch. For those who don’t know who these are, Dean Esmay is one of the big shots up at A Voice for Men and Judgy Bitch is a lady MRA who I came across when she was blaming the victim of the Steubenville rape.

And this argument boiled down to the same “nonsense” that Thunderfoot was flogging. That rape victims if they don’t take specific precautions are to blame to varying levels for their rapes.

And this term “Helmet Bunny” was an affront to me. [Read more…]

Ann Marie Waters – You Are Not Helping By Supporting Condell

No Really.

Pat Condell’s stances are widely pushed among racist circles because Mr. Condell speaks with of conspiracy theories of Muslims. One of his most recent statements was fear for Sweden for granting asylum to 2 MILLION Syrians. A little bit of googling and you find out that the real story was “Sweden gives 8000 Syrians Unlimited Leave To Remain and a chance to become Swedish because they are unlikely to be able to return to Syria”.

A humanitarian gesture.

Mr. Condell was more worried not about a horrific war where millions are displaced and thousands have died and we have seen the use of Chemical Weaponry but over Sweden Importing 2 Million Muslims And Destroying Themselves.

Never mind the reality. This was pushed across the Internet. This view was defended by many of his followers. I pointed out how silly it was and honestly? I got a fair amount of flak.  [Read more…]

Unreported World – Philippines

This one is an old show. After a political battle beyond compare the Philippines finally legalised contraception.

But it is kind of chilling to watch what a society with abstinence only education and anti-abortion stances looks like at a specific level.

Trigger Warnings abound. This is a documentary on abortion with scenes of women undergoing the procedure. [Read more…]

Age of Kali – Eighty Per Cent

There is a small but vocal minority of atheists who don’t think that atheism should be involved in “so called” social justice.

Which is a bit silly. I am not just an atheist. I have other things and other principles. For me my my atheism comes alongside humanist principles and I am painfully aware of the bystander principle.

And while I understand I cannot help everyone, I do my best to try and help. That is all one can really hope to do in most cases.

There is a small and vocal minority of atheists who have taken “umbrage” to the fights I chose to involve myself in. And since moving into a more mainstream blog platform I am exposed to ideas that I don’t quite like.

One of them is the MRA movement. In Particular? A Voice for Men. I have made it quite clear about my distaste and have started specifically mentioning them every time something happens in India.

Why? Because they tried to downplay the seriousness of the problem in India and even Afghanistan. They have held “devil’s advocate” positions from various members supporting cultures that are simply harmful to women. They do so under the guise of “well men have it bad, so fuck women”.

You will know them by their love

Wendy Davis has become a house hold name for her epic filibuster.

On Friday, Senators convened to debate the Texas Abortion Bill. But one thing missing? The objections this time were simply ignored.

The Texas Abortion bill is a religious bill. I don’t think anyone is a fan of abortion. It is a medical procedure. Most sensible humans aren’t having one for “lolz”. Yes there are some people who abuse it but frankly there are people who abuse chocolate and we don’t legislate that and chocolate is infinitely deadlier than abortions (People die from diabetes and cardio-vascular issues more regularly than abortions after all). Rick Perry – What if Your Mother Aborted You

“It is just unfortunate, that she hasn’t learned from her own example that every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters.” – Rick Perry

Rick Perry said that at the National Right to Life Conference (I wonder if the National Right to Life Conference is anti-death penalty?) about Senator Wendy Davis after her marathon 13 hour stall for time (AKA a filibuster) last week.

At the core of this argument is an idea of “What if you never existed? WHAT IF YOU WERE THAT BABY!” [Read more…]
