FTBCon….science

I and other FTBloggers will be sitting about on a bunch of google hangouts discussing a variety of topics. We figured we could call this FTBCon.

The first “ever” inaugral super duper conference will have most of us sitting around discussing everything from video-games to charity and activism. So if you want to come say hello then check out the official page.

We will have a schedule up and running soon. Until then!

It’s not all Doom and Gloom

I have been really depressed over the past few days due to my parents threatening me with “ostracisation” if I don’t leave Tiga, and two things got me out. The support of Tiga for me and realising that people are amazing and that I should spend just as much time with amazing people and with amazing stories rather than just surround myself with misery.

This is just beautiful…

Lest we forget, there are probably more amazing people in the world than wankers.

It’s just that the wankers are very very loud.

SSA Blogathon – Update!

We hit our target! We have achieved $500! Everything we do now is beating the target!

I am blogging as part of the Secular Student Alliance’s blogathon. I am trying to aim for a blog post every so often unlike the shambolic haphazard events of Tuesday. In addition? I am accepting “requests”.

The link to the hangout is here. But the blogathon proper should start in around 2 Hours and continue at a more sedate and sane pace. (New Link! The old one crashed! Tiga’s there too so come say hello!)

If you wish to donate to the Secular Student Alliance then the link is here. And yes, you can suggest forfeits.

SSA Blogathon – And So It Begins!

Well! The Hangout is now properly online. People are there discussing things (Smoking Meat and Swamps…) but we have a variety of things to do including playing our version of Cards (well Hangouts) Against Humanity while I blog.

Update – We are now just $5 short of the Target, so anyone who wants to round up the amount they are welcome to do so! Then we can see how high we can get!

SSA – Million Gods hangout now live

The SSA Blogathon by A Million Gods and Associated People (Tiga – My girlfriend may be around so you guys are welcome to come see that she is totally real and not a figment of my nerd imagination! Piano Black may also make time for this) will be online and hanging out so come say hello while I try and blog my way through to hitting the $500 mark on my fundraising goal. [Read more…]

SSA Blogathon Schedule

Well I am doing another SSA blogathon schedule tomorrow with Tiga.

Both of us will be on a Google Hangout and I will be taking suggestions.

I won’t be doing the “blog every 30 minutes” malarky. It’s just ridiculously hard and I feel I was blogging terribly. I shall be aiming for once every hour. A few people came to hang out with me while I blogged and that was “kind of fun”. Hopefully more people will be free on a Saturday to hang out.

Secular Students Alliance Blogathon

Well my 12 hour blogathon starts now, you can follow what I am doing on the hangout.

My fund-raising page is here and while I don’t think I can match the “thousands” that other bloggers are capable of doing, I have set my goal for a much less lofty $500. This can be revised.

I have been told it’s normal to offer forfeits, so if anyone has any ideas for one please let me know!

And GO!

Suicide is Painless

One of the biggest influences in the kind of doctor I wanted to be wasn’t my parents but a TV show. I know it sounds cliche but everything I learnt about being there for your patients I learnt from MASH.

Suicide in the UK has become the biggest killer of young men aged 30 to 44. Every day 3 young men take their own lives (on average) and a lot of the reasons for their deaths is the recession and economic downturn. In 2011 4500 men took their lives out of 6050 total. To point out how high this number in the 30-44 age bracket is? Suicide caused the deaths of more people than road accidents, murder and HIV/AIDS combined. [Read more…]
