“It’s black? Why?”
“It’s because there is no circulation. Your arteries aren’t in great shape, the hypertension’s caused poor circulation. I am afraid your toe is dead and it’s gangrene.”
“Oh. What can we do?”
“We have to amputate it and try and improve your blood circulation.”
“What does that mean.”
“Weight loss and exercise. You have to keep walking and eat healthy.”
Today we cut the toe of a man who had worked in a field for nearly 65 years. We also removed a lump from a woman who had a breast carcinoma (T1N0M0 so great prognosis).
I then got sent home. I am still suffering from amoebic dysentery. Not bad for a day’s work.
And yes. I feel badass.
