It’s not all Doom and Gloom

I have been really depressed over the past few days due to my parents threatening me with “ostracisation” if I don’t leave Tiga, and two things got me out. The support of Tiga for me and realising that people are amazing and that I should spend just as much time with amazing people and with amazing stories rather than just surround myself with misery.

This is just beautiful…

Lest we forget, there are probably more amazing people in the world than wankers.

It’s just that the wankers are very very loud.

It hurts when it’s someone close to you doing that. It’s harder to shut that out and rise above it. But you’re incredible and so is Tiga. They may be your parents, but they like so many others are sadly trapped in that mindset that you fight against daily. It’s tragic, but… Keep fighting, keep your chin up, and keep being awesome.

Both you an Tiga hang in there. I found that my parents usually, eventually, forgave whatever behaviour caused me to be ostracized. I am substantially older so that although I attended university for many years I was usually able to support myself in some fashion. Hopefully it will be the same for you.

Oh, gosh, I got a teensy-tiny bit of that experience when my religious parents very nearly didn’t come to my atheist wedding, and that was so tough. But, ostracisation?!

*hug* I’m so sorry that this is happening to you.

I don’t know if your parents will learn to treat you better, but after about a year, mine ultimately did find a way to justify to themselves coming to my wedding. Given time, most people eventually find a way to let empathy and love overcome the rules they have drilled into their heads.
