Piano Black – Sex

Sex: n: either the male or female division of a species, especially as differentiated with reference to the reproduce functions.”

That’s the definition of sex, the cookie cutter dictionary definition. Yes it has to deal with the sperm fertilizing the egg and then the creation of life, yet I feel like it should mean more than that.  Sex is the ultimate form of bonding, physically as well as intellectually. However, sex, in my perception, is more of an expression. Often times, because very little in this life is absolute, sex alone cannot manifest into love. Sex can only come from love one person has for another.

That being established, sex is also a part of human nature, and all nature in general. Sex is a beautiful, wonderful thing, but we must know how to appreciate it.  I do not believe it should be crushed, or even glamorized. Sex is being. Yes, it’s scientifically, it was used to reproduce, but I believe it is much more than that. It is the bonding of two people, regardless of gender or race, so that they can become one. It is more about giving than receiving, fearlessly. Sex is something that should be taken very seriously. Although it is the pleasure and instant gratification that we get physically, the emotional connection between two people is what’s makes it worthwhile. An idealistic philosophy for an idealistic world. My experience is lacking in this concept, and it is always subjected to change, which is also fine too. I am completely aware that human flesh gets the better of us, and that person we had sex with maybe wasn’t the one for us after all. It is all a part of living and learning. So as I stated before that sex is not something that should be glamorized or more importantly crushed,

I believe it should be talked about with ease and comfort.  I also believe that we should discuss sex, scientifically as well as morally to our youngsters. It is very easy to think “oh well, if I tell my child about sex, they’ll want to have it” or even worse “oh, well the school system will explain sex for me”. Parents, adults, anyone who has been on this planet to learn a thing or two, do not rely on these attitudes to go about the topic of sex and the great responsibility of it. The “talk” is important because they should be aware of what everything is, how it works, and what happens if it’s not taken care of. It’s imperative to also teach them the morale behind this wonderful gift we can give to another human, and to let them know the gravity of their consequences good and bad. If our adolescents do know learn from a trusted parent or adult, they are most likely going to find out through other means that are usually not so accurate. Sex is a part of human curiosity, along other various topics of science, it demands to be explored as well as discussed.

A Voice for Me: No, You Cannot Steal A Voice

As you may recall, I was “bloody pissed off” about the Steubenville Rape story but didn’t weigh in. I didn’t know enough about American Jock culture apart from cursory immersion within it due to contact with Americans and through the media. However the post by Judgy Bitch kind of forced me to speak due to the absolute horror of watching her denigrate the suffering of others by showing greater suffering.

I call it the Suffering Olympics. For instance? I am sorry, you not getting a proper balanced meal on food stamps is insufficient suffering as I am going to play the “Starving Children in Africa ™” card. You Lose. Good Day Sir. [Read more…]

Age of Kali – Salma

A 13-year old girl hides behind a locked door in her own home. A prisoner, whose only crime is to be born a woman.

She is from Southern India and is locked away by her family in her own home, in an Islamic community where tradition sees girls being banned from attending school and leaving the house as soon as they reach puberty.

She is Salma.

And for the next 25 years words were her freedom. She secretly wrote poems which she smuggled out and had them published.

“They are now, because Salma has come out and had the courage to talk about her culture, her background – to break all the taboos, and incur tremendous wrath on her head.

She writes under the name Salma. Her poetry set her free. It gave her power and made her make progress from her prison to the wide world.

After a huge success at its premiere at London’s Human Rights Watch Film Festival, Salma’s story will be shown at the Sheffield Film Festival in June and other screenings will be arranged across the UK. Being a Channel 4 commission, it will also be broadcast next year.

Still think India treats it’s women well? MRAs?

I want to watch this when it comes out. Can’t wait to hear her story and I wish I could meet such an amazing human.

Food – Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?

One of the biggest killers in the world is malnourishment. It’s a global issue and covers a variety of conditions affecting both the developed and the developing nations.

It’s a global phenomenon. Yes you did hear me right, we in the west have malnourishment issues just as much as we in the developing world face it but the faces of the two things are different. [Read more…]

Suicide is Painless

One of the biggest influences in the kind of doctor I wanted to be wasn’t my parents but a TV show. I know it sounds cliche but everything I learnt about being there for your patients I learnt from MASH.

Suicide in the UK has become the biggest killer of young men aged 30 to 44. Every day 3 young men take their own lives (on average) and a lot of the reasons for their deaths is the recession and economic downturn. In 2011 4500 men took their lives out of 6050 total. To point out how high this number in the 30-44 age bracket is? Suicide caused the deaths of more people than road accidents, murder and HIV/AIDS combined. [Read more…]

Help the Real Vampires, Be a Hero!

I know it’s a silly title but there are people who need blood to live.

Want to be a hero? Most of us can do this. Give blood. It doesn’t matter where you live, donate if you can.

I have donated to families so desperate that they would give EVERYTHING they had for just a unit of blood. It’s life in a bottle. I still donate blood. I have been in India and due to the rarity of my blood type I donate once a month (It saved my own life when I required a transfusion during Dengue Fever). To date I have donated 35 to 40 units of blood to date.

Be a hero. Save a life, ride a gurney (and give blood).

A Voice for Me: Not You Too India!

In the light of the Delhi rapes you may have noticed a couple of the MRA websites have rushed to defend the “so called Rights” of men in India.

I does need to be repeated. Anyone who has read my blog is aware of the various “major” rapes that grip the news headlines out here. Rape is common place enough and India still doesn’t consider marital rape as rape.

But various websites and indeed the commentariat from such stellar places such as the Slymepit and a Voice for Men have shown up to defend the laws based on a variety of points ranging from “not reading the News Article” to “But I have to pay more for Nightclub Entry”.

Today’s “Won’t Someone Think Of the Menz” candidate is A Voice for Men and it’s David Cuspis. [Read more…]

If we let gays marry, then what about the Jedi?

See! They told you so! First we let Adam and Eve become Adam and Steve now we have to agree to marry Qui Gon Jin to Mace Windu.

Why? Because Scotland is planning an amendment to the current Civil Partnership and Marriage laws which will allow any group purporting a belief to conduct weddings.

The government claims it’s to allow humanists to perform marriages, however the Free Church of Scotland says it will allow anyone with a belief to officiate at weddings.

More than a 100,000 such “knights” exist in the UK according to the last Census.

“There are loads of people in a diverse society like this for whom belief can mean virtually anything – the Flat Earth Society and Jedi Knights Society – who knows?” says church spokesman the Rev Iver Martin.

“I am not saying that we don’t give place to that kind of personal belief, but when you start making allowances for marriages to be performed within those categories then you are all over the place.”

I think someone should tell Rev. Martin that the Jedi Knights are a joke religion. The Jedi don’t believe that they can deflect bullets with lightsabers. And if anything there would be a schism between Republic and post Republic Jedi philosophies since one allows marriage and the other does not. In fact it’s kind of a major schism.

And all because we want to let gays marry each other. Such a slippery slope.

Why it’s like the sliding increases in the powers of Palpatine and indeed Jacen Solo when they both usurped power… Where will it stop!
