Matt Barber – An Open Letter to Gay Teens

I took on his open letter to women wanting to have an abortion, but Matt’s got a new letter out on WND, this time it’s an open letter to Gay Teens..

Who am I? I’m a husband and a father. More importantly, and by the grace of God, I’m a follower of Jesus Christ. This is what motivates me to write you.

Has it not been said? Ye who believe in me, go forth and be tossweasels in my name.

We all have seen it before. GLBT kids are tormented and bullied in every community (including our own. Let’s not forget for all our support for the GLBT we have made some howlers in the past).

You don’t have to read on, but I pray you will.

I sacrificed many bothans so you could read this.

What I write I write with the purest of aims and with your well-being in mind – physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, both now and for eternity. You will read truth here, not because I say it’s true – I’m nobody – but, rather, because the Creator of the universe, the very God Who wove you together in your mother’s womb made it true.

No. What Matt Barber thinks is that the purest of aims for a good Christian Man ™ is to confuse and terrify an already scared person into being something that they are not comfortable with being. Because a 2000 year old book says “You Should Be This Way”. A 2000 year old book which in the same chapter goes on about a bunch of stuff?

This is Matt Barber. There is a Reason For This Image

The following things are also BANNED in the Bible.

1. Leviticus 11:8, which is discussing pigs, reads “You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.” Bacon Cheeseburgers are not allowed. Say Goodbye To Your Big Macs.

2. Leviticus 19:27 reads “You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard.” (Oh Snap! Matt Barber! You got served! May I remind your beard trimming arse that Jesus said something about not casting stones! You no-taliban beard having hypocrite!)

3. Leviticus 19:31 reads “Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.” The penalty for that? Check Leviticus 20:6: “As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.” So no newspapers with any zodiac signs in them.

4. It’s Genesis 38:9-10: “Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord; so He took his life also.”. (This one kind of cripples the whole “Pull Out Contraception” that many Christians and er… Pornstars like flogging)

5. Leviticus 19:28 reads, “You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord.”

6. Leviticus 19:19 reads, “You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.” (Yet again Matt is proper fucked here since modern agriculture is based on cross breeding and modern clothing clearly uses mixed fibres.)

7. Deuteronomy 23:1 reads (this is the God’s Word translation, which spells it out better), “A man whose testicles are crushed or whose penis is cut off may never join the assembly of the Lord.” (God hates people with penile cancer)

8. Deuteronomy 23:2 reads, “No one of illegitimate birth shall enter the assembly of the Lord; none of his descendants, even to the tenth generation, shall enter the assembly of the Lord.”. (God Hates Bastards. And sins of fathers and all that… Jehovah comes off as kind of an arsehole)

9.  Timothy 2:9 reads “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments.”. (Diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend)

10. Leviticus 11:10 reads, “But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you.”

It’s simple. If you want us to start stoning the homosexuals for being detestable then Matt Barber should be ostracised for his terrible choice in facial hair.

His truths never change.

Except when they totally do because Matt’s clearly shaved. But that’s me bringing logic to a fight about who can obey the instructions of an imaginary being the best.

I have three kids, a boy and two girls. My son will soon enter his teenage years. I’ve had many people ask me what I’d say to my children if one of them came to me and declared: “Dad, I’m gay.” Here’s what I’d say. I’d tell them exactly what I’m about to tell you. I love you. I neither judge you nor condemn you. I accept you and I would die for you. But you are not “gay.”

One of the most important things we can teach our children is to be themselves and to not try and change solely to be accepted by their peers. Okay it’s a balance… I mean no one would respect me if I had the hair of my youth (Red… Spikes) but being true to what they are is important.

You are gay. That’s all. Matt Barber’s advice is just an excellent way of ending up screwing over your kid.

Yes, you may be physically attracted to people of the same sex, but how you act on those attractions is entirely your choice. Who you are – your identity – is not defined by your sexual feelings, temptations or behaviors. The difference between who you are and what you feel or do is as the difference between night and day.

Your identity is not defined by your sexual feelings if you are heterosexual since you are “the norm” and the expected majority. You have to identify as homosexual because you are the minority.

IF a straight man were to walk into a gay bar then the straight man would temporarily cease to be the norm and therefore have to identify himself as “Heterosexual”. The reason Matt doesn’t define himself by his sexuality is the same reason he doesn’t have to tell people he is right handed or white since that is the cultural norm in the west while I have to identify myself as “not white”.

Here is who you are: You are a wonderful, beautiful, precious human being created in the image and likeness of the one righteous and Holy God of the universe. You are priceless.

For everything else there is Mastercard.

But you are flawed – you are a sinner. I am flawed – I am a sinner.

We are all flawed sinners – corrupted beings in a corrupted world. We are all tempted by sin.

I had to read that in Brian Blessed’s voice because that was so hammy. To any teenagers reading this and struggling with their sexuality?

You are not a sinner. People like Matt have this problem where they have to think they are evil because then they can repent and be better than the rest of us/get mad Nectar Card Points that are redeemable only in Heaven.

You are not a sinner despite what Matt desperately has to believe. You are NORMAL. What you do with your life counts. Some of the greatest evil has been perpetrated by people who claimed to be “holy”. You are as evil and wicked as bacon and that’s not evil and wicked at all.

Think about your actions and how they affect others before acting. Try and improve the world. Don’t wait for role models, be one.

And wear sunglasses.

Those temptations manifest themselves in different ways for each of us. We are all on equal footing, however, as to how we react to those temptations.

No we are not.

I do not find men attractive. I am not physically turned on by them. If I were forced to pretend to be gay I would be “fucking miserable”. It is not a temptation. A Creme egg is a temptation when you are on a diet. This is something that is innate to you.

And the most important thing about being alive is to try and be happy. Matt and his ilk are so desperate to please some mythical entity in order to get into a non-existent paradise that they forget what is most precious in life.

Homosexual behavior is always wrong – demonstrably and absolutely wrong.

Because a god says so.

Every major world religion, thousands of years of history and uncompromising human biology declare this objective reality from the rooftops.

Only if you ignore Hinduism and Buddhism. (Don’t we all?)

Homophobia only became a big deal after the Christians took over. Prior to that people had no issues with it. It was just a  thing. And many non-judeo-christian cultures had no quarrels with it until they showed up to tell everyone what to be morally outraged about.

And human biology supports homophobia. We think of sexuality as a binary thing which it clearly isn’t. The existence of bisexuals shows that. Pure heterosexuality means I have to go outside and walk around the block peeing on street corners and beating up any men I run into in order to assert my dominance and control over the women in this region. It’s misogynistic but that’s biology for you. All the apes do this.

We do not because somehow we can cooperate with other men and form long lasting bonds that do include romantic interest. I postulate that this is the benefit of homosexuality. While gay people cannot breed the “tendency” makes us more likely to survive as a group and pass on our genes by getting “Men” to work together rather than compete like the apes we evolved from. This allowed us to worry less about competing and more about making things that help us survive as a group.

Like pointed sticks and Aston Martins.

Though your heart may deceive you, something deep within you knows this to be true. Scripture says, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. …” (Jeremiah 17:9)

Remember… No Beards trimming.

Some say, “But Jesus never mentioned homosexuality.” First, we don’t know this. We have no record in Scripture of Him specifically addressing homosexual sin, but neither do we have a record of His addressing incest, bestiality or other sexual sins.

Except this goes against what Matt said earlier about Truths Being Eternal.

Because if we are to extend Matt’s belief then we have come from not one but two different incidents of massive amounts of incest (Adam and Eve + Noah). Apparently Truth Isn’t As Eternal As We Think It Is.

Jesus was clear. He condemned all sexual immorality as detailed within the moral law. He was clear that any sexual activity outside the bonds of marriage between husband and wife is sexual immorality – sin.

For our next trick we shall stone adulterers! Because Jesus didn’t explicitly say so.

Jesus also said to Love thy Neighbour and Render Unto Caesar. Apparently Christians failed to get that memo because Caesar (or the populace) think gay people should be treated decently.

And remember. Jesus said absolutely nothing about Slavery being a sin. In fact it was us who changed our minds on it and made it illegal. In fact Jesus was surrounded by slaves yet never said a word about it. In fact if we are to believe Luke and Timothy, Jesus was PRO Slavery.

Jesus may have been moral about a lot of things but he isn’t as moral as we are. We have grown in the last 2000 years as human beings and as society. The fact remains that slavery is a massive evil and a voiding of basic human rights. It is so abhorrent to modern day man that to claim that Jesus was the source of all morality while simultaneously encouraging slaves to remain as such and people to punish their slaves appropriately is not acceptable. We are better than this. And we are better than his homophobia.

In fact, homosexual sin is expressly identified in both the Old and New Testaments as being among the list of sins that, if committed without repentance, will prevent you from “inheriting the kingdom of God.”

If that doesn’t make the Bible designated Hate Literature than I don’t know what does.

That is to say, yes; unrepentant homosexual behavior is disobedience to God. If we rebel against God and refuse to repent and ask His forgiveness, then we have chosen our own fate – we have chosen to disqualify ourselves from heaven.

We have chosen hell. I know, it’s not easy. Temptation is not easy. To sin, however, is easy.

Dear Gay Teens

If you are reading this then you must know that no kind and loving and morally good god would ever punish you for loving someone. To the same Christians my love of my girlfriend is not “true” because neither of us are Christians and therefore not blessed by whatever fancy light that Jehovah extrudes upon us.

We have “chosen” hell just because we demand evidence for the existence of Jehovah before we believe in him because there clearly is no evidence for such an entity.

Still, to endure the consequences of that sin, both here and throughout eternity, will be more difficult than our limited minds can fathom.

Romans 6:23 admonishes: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Sin can lead to physical death; but it also leads to emotional and spiritual death.

And Matt thinks that a kind and loving god would punish you for an eternity alongside Gandhi merely for thinking your own gender is attractive.

If you are caught up in homosexual sin, you know – intuitively you know – that such conduct is wrong, that it is both immoral and unnatural behavior.

Actually? The reason why homosexuals are so furtive about it is because they are bullied, ostracised and denigrated by people such as Matt Barber. That homophobia is so rampant in society that you HAVE to be furtive about it for the same reason that as a young man I was furtive about my RPGs and Warhammer.

Truth is truth, even though we may deny it.

God has written His law on your heart. You are a physical being; but, more importantly, you are a spiritual being. When we sin, we create separation between ourselves and God.

God’s word also says that when we sin sexually, it’s particularly egregious because our bodies are the temple of Christ. This separation from God – a natural result of sexual sin – can lead to depression and even despair.

You have to realise the shame you feel from being a homosexual is not due to homosexuality but due to society’s demonisation of such feelings. If you were born to parents who were open about their acceptance for homosexuals then you would not feel such discomfort.

Which is why people like Matt hate the “acceptance” of Homosexuality as much as homosexuality itself.

If you feel such despair, know this: it is not “homophobia” causing it, as adult enablers might tell you, but, rather, it is the sin itself that causes it (or struggling alone, absent Christ, with the temptation to sin).

Except it’s homophobia. Listen if you ran around screaming the first commandment at Hindus we would call you a dick. Yet you expect us to let you get away with Leviticus?

You are being used. Adult homosexual activists with a political agenda are using you as a pawn to achieve selfish goals in a dangerous political game.

You’re just a means to an end.

Yes. Yes you are.

The end game for the homosexual activist is to be treated like a human being. And they will use your suffering to and your pain to drive the movement forwards so you no longer have to face that suffering and pain. Or at least make it so that no other kids have to face the same kind of suffering and pain growing up.

To me school was some of the best time in my life. And it saddens me when others are bullied out of a similar experience. So to utilise the stories and the suffering you have faced to give young kids some hope to have the same kind of experience that I did isn’t a bad thing.

They may have convinced themselves otherwise, but they don’t care about you. They don’t love you. They can’t. Their version of “love” is built on lies. It’s devoid of truth.

Love without truth is hate.

If you continue down this wide, empty path, make no mistake: it will not “get better.”

It gets much, much worse.

Matt’s version of the truth is conditional love. If you don’t believe in his god then matter what you burn in hell. Gandhi is in hell. The priests who molest children will not be there. That’s the kind of love “Jehovah” offers. And do you think eternal torment for all sins is acceptable?

And what sort of loving god threatens you with torture? That’s not love, that’s abuse. If you don’t love me I will burn you.

Consider, for instance, that according to the CDC this path will lead you, boys, to a one-in-five chance of contracting HIV/AIDS. The CDC also found that 64 percent of all syphilis cases strike “gay” males and that homosexual behavior leads to astronomical risk of nearly all other forms of STD.

1 in 5? Matt should read his Bible. I believe there is a commandment about not bearing false witness.

396,810 MSM have HIV/AIDS

There are roughly 6 million MSM in the USA (Men who have sex with men)

That’s 1 in 15. Not 1 in 5. Use a condom.

Oh and Syphillis isn’t the disease that the bible calls the mark of sin anymore. It’s a single injection of benzathine penicillin and 2 weeks of no sex. Big Fucking Whoop!

Yes, the male homosexual community has a lot of problems. Yes the issue is the low usage of condoms amongst black MSM (the majority of new cases are from them sadly). The solution is “use condoms”.

Even more startling is the fact that, according to the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE), “[L]ife expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men.”

Yes, because a massive amount of gay men die from AIDS skewing the result downwards.

Okay. there are three reasons why MSM are more prone to AIDS and it’s very very simple.

1. Many do not use condoms. Straight men and women use condoms to avoid childbirth. It just so happens to stop STDs. MSM don’t have to worry about childbirth so condom usage is lower. There is an uptake of protection but it’s not as widespread as I wish it to be.

2. Each gay man is statistically a bigger part of the mating population and so is more likely to come into sexual contact with a HIV positive individual and so contract the disease. The disease would spread faster there.

3. Anal sex is more conducive to spreading the disease. And anal sex among straight men and women generally was encouraged to be done with a condom.

Unnatural behaviors beget natural consequences. “The wages of sin is death.”

But there is hope.

Jesus loves you with a love that no human can fully grasp. This is true not because of your so-called “sexual orientation,” but, rather, it is true in spite of it.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Kids, take your sexual confusion – your struggle with sin – to Christ.

No one else can give you rest.

You can literally see the strategy here.

Homosexuality is wrong, it’s your fault, you are broken, you are worthless, you are hated, you hate yourself, you are evil…

Can you see why these young children are so tormented? So filled with self loathing? Can you see how pervasive the hatred is against them? How the entire system that Matt belongs to is designed to create self loathing and doubt and fear and then to alleviate it through Jesus and a Lie?

How very moral.

  1. glodson says

When I finally admitted to myself that I am an atheist, and when I thought about all that implied, I decided that non-violence was an important aspect. This was due to my coming to terms with needing a new moral basis and looking to humanism for that.

Why do so many fucking jerks exist that make me want to rethink the whole non-violence thing? This guy, and Scott Lively, just make me sick. They are heartless, cruel, and their words will hurt so many. What a bunch of assholes.

  2. naturalcynic says

You deeply insult the bonobos friendly polymorphous promiscuity. We’re just as evolutionarily close to the bonobos as we are to the other branch of the chimp family.

  3. sillose says

what, no mention of STD risks for women who have sex with women? those kind of highlight how he likes facts only when they agree with his crazy.

  4. kevinalexander says

Of course we choose to be gay. Who wouldn’t want to choose to be attracted to someone who will get drunk with his christian friends and beat the crap out of him.

  5. blondeintokyo says

Matt conveniently forgets to mention that lesbians have the lowest rate of HIV infections and lower rates of STIs than straight people. They also tend to have fewer sexual partners (not that I think this is significant; but Matt would) and stay in their relationship longer. Somehow the homophobes always manage to forget lesbians. I tend to think they’re dismissive of women in general, and often don’t really believe lesbians actually exist. They show incredible ignorance of human sexuality with every word that comes out of their mouth, and I have no idea why they expect anyone to listen to them with anything other than massive contempt.

  6. says

Jesus may have been moral about a lot of things but he isn’t as moral as we are.

Oh, please. I know it’s traditional to hat-tip jesus as being some kind of moral teacher or philosopher but you couldn’t tell that from the bible. He spends relatively little time teaching and a great deal of time coyly dancing around about whether or not he’s the messiah. He makes a bunch of “proof by vigorous assertion” kind of statements (hardly philosophy, that!) and causes a few near-riots and then ends by losing a rather important argument with Pontius Pilate, whereupon he dies with much less panache than Socrates did. If jesus had useful moral teachings to impart to us he would have perhaps offered a method of moral induction or answered Socrates’ challenge to Euthyphro. And his apostles were losers, too. I mean, if you actually thought you were in the presence of god, wouldn’t you have some questions about ensoulment, or when a fetus should be treated as a human being, and whether to buy stock on the IPO? But no, they were too busy trying to figure out how to split the check 13 ways…
