Apparently Warsi Failed to Get the Memo

You don’t need a god to be good. We know this, but no one’s told Baroness Warsi that.

The problem here is what we define by “practise their faith”. No one has stopped any religious people from doing whatever it is they want to do UNLESS the practise of their faith was against the law. In some cases such as in the case of Islam, large concessions have been made which many of us disagree with such as the existence of Sharia courts.

This is an issue I have spoken about repeatedly.

You are a role model for society. Yes, you can behave like a dumbass if you want to. But there is a time and a place for that. When the chips are down you can do good and be visible doing good. That doesn’t mean do what I do (Remember! If you have the skills then do it, if you don’t then we have to waste time and resources picking up after you),

Militant Secularisation is anathema to Lady Warsi and indeed the Pope and the Vatican. Of course it is! Warsi is a Muslim. Not one of the scary lunatics who run around bashing gays or enforcing “Sharia Law” in the UK but one of the nice friendly ones. Who forgets that the nasty ones use people like her as a human shield.

Again she is proposing Christianity play a bigger role in public life during her delegation to the Vatican. For a political party infamous for being rich toffs often from Eton and other fancy schools their grasp of English History is Awfully Poor.

The United Kingdom Sucked Under Christianity. For the Love of Fuck, We watched Northern Ireland tear itself apart over who liked Green and who liked Orange! Protestants vs. Anglicans vs. Catholics and a big fuck off mess! No! Religion can fucking drown for all I care, the UK’s greatest strength was seeing that fucking mess and going “You Know What? I Am Not Going To Do That Again”. And going and saying “You Know the UK is Planning To Be A lot Less Secular” to the Pope is just daft. If the Pope wishes to dictate British Policy then let him run for power, we don’t vote for the Roman Catholic Church, we don’t wish to give him any influence on our society.

And so how are we getting religion snuck in? As usual due to government cuts, society is a bit “short” (Apparently Big Society = The Government pulling the Rug from under social service budgets while making whooping noises and scuttling away leaving “Free Labour” to pick up the pieces). Religious groups have “stepped in” instead.

So what can we do?

Well aren’t we the forces of secularism? Isn’t our justice a big ugly stick of functional truth? Get off your arses and beat them at their own game.

“I understand he will now go into retreat but he has left us with a wealth of important scholarly teachings and a diplomatic legacy upon which we can only build.” – Warsi on Pope Benedict

Otherwise we have to deal with individuals such as this. For the love of all fuck! Benedict blamed Atheists for Nazi Germany, Routinely Claimed the Condoms SPREAD STDs, Fought against birth control policies in India, Africa and indeed the Philippines and to put the icing on the on the cake was in charge of the same Roman Catholic church that was complicit in horrific abuses of children many of the abusers who are STILL protected by his organisation with the Church interfering with investigations on purpose. He

He spoke out against Gay Marriage and had ties with Uganda where people are planning to run bills that codify and promote homophobia. We legalised gay marriage just a short while ago. This is a dinosaur and not in the cool way. In the “should be extinct” way. Let him go, let us stop giving the Pope his value so that the Catholic Church’s power is reduced. This man has NOTHING to do with a modern secular Britain.

One of his final acts was to condemn Ireland’s plans to make abortion legal after the death of Savitha. This man is not a role model for ANY human being let alone a religion.

And if we don’t get off our arses and do things visibly where we can as Atheists and indeed Secularists then we will be stuck with politicians who listen to people whose only qualification is that they believe in Jehovah the mostest.

Do Some Good. You Are Representative Of All Of Us. Be someone we can point to and say “We Do It Too And We Do It Better”.

This is exactly how it is in the States as well, just with Christians. When I was a liberal Christian, I never realized that my speaking out made allowed for a level of protect for the batshit crazy fundies saying inhuman things. Like a human buffer.

I just saw a guy ask for proof that Ratz helped in covering up pedophilia in the church. I think I responded with 4 or 5 links with a wealth of information. What people like this guy don’t realize that their defense adds another layer of protection for the horrible things done for, and by, their faith.

And you are right, we do need to do more. Not just speaking out, but showing directly that we don’t need god to do good. And not to let them use their charities to reach out and manipulate people any more.

I agree with all of this. Warsi is a gigantic steaming shitstain on the underpants of British politics and I am sick of having to listen to her nonsense. The pope is not a good role model for anyone, and certainly not for a self-professed enlightened Democracy. The man is evil, made all the worse by the fact that he is utterly convinced that he is doing good while shuffly around cheerfully fucking up the planet and increasing the sum total of human misery.

My position on the Pope is that now he no longer has diplomatic immunity we should swoop in and arrest the bastard. Fuck, the US can try him and entire Catholic hierarchy under the RICO act, that would please me no end.

Her apparent lack of knowledge of history and current events is mind-boggling, “People who do god do good” Oh really!

(and yes I know there are a lot of individuals and churches that individually do good, I have religious friends who actually do collect food for the food bank and help build houses for Habitat)

    did she forget:

    The Inquisition
    Executing people as witches
    The Crusades
    The Magdalene laundries
    The Irish troubles
The Iran/Iraq war ( at least in part happened due to the Sunni Shia ongoing divide)
The Catholic church actively protecting and hiding pedophiles
Arrests of people for denigrating religion
Illegal forced adoptions by Catholic charities
    The pogroms
    The Holocaust

And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head

Hello and to all atheists concerned:

I am currently pursuing a masters in theology and this week’s class project requires that I interview 3 middle/high school candidates concerning a particular set of questions (If you are in your twenties that’s okay even if the requirement is middle school or high school age-this class is about youth ministry). Candidates must be “unsaved” (Their words-not mine) but preferably they once attended church and had some idea as to the concept of “God” and what that means.

This is not a troll, a trick, or some sneaky method to get unsuspecting atheist youths in my spider’s web of church deceit. I just have several questions that need to be answered by 3 candidates that match the aforementioned profile. NO CONVERSION ATTEMPTS! I just need these questions answered that are enumerated below:
    a. How do you describe your religious background and church involvement if any (past and present)?
    b. To you, what is God like? Describe God or at least the concept of God if you believe this entity to be a myth.
    c. If there were this hypothetical God, what would you think would be important and/or not important to God?
    d. Describe what the term/name “Jesus Christ” means to you?
    e. If you were to attend a church or youth group, what would be important to you?
    f. From your perspective, what are some of the major problems you see with churches and youth ministries?
    g. What is important in life?

    email is charlevoixatthelake@gmail.com

Thanks to everyone reading and I look forward to your responses.

    a. How do you describe your religious background and church involvement if any (past and present)?
    – Raised as a Roman Catholic, stopped going to church when I was 19.

    b. To you, what is God like? Describe God or at least the concept of God if you believe this entity to be a myth.
    – God(s) = myth(s), but the ‘concept’ = self-absorbed, narcissistic, genocidal, obsessed with controlling and
judging our personal lives (especially sex), contradictory in both commands and statements…basically
    sociopathic/psychotic.

    c. If there were this hypothetical God, what would you think would be important and/or not important to God?
    – what we eat, what we say, who we have sex with (as well as which sex acts), controlling EVERY
aspect of our existence and then frying us eternally for even minor fuck-ups.

    d. Describe what the term/name “Jesus Christ” means to you?
    – “Jesus Christ” (nicely done, I agree with the quotes around that) = supposedly historical figure since
there’s no historical evidence for his existence. “Jesus Christ” is and amalgam cobbled together
from too many years of oral traditions (read “Who Wrote the Gospels” to find out that the 4
    stated “authors” did NOT).

    e. If you were to attend a church or youth group, what would be important to you?
    – the comedy/irony value; they’re so amusing.

    f. From your perspective, what are some of the major problems you see with churches and youth ministries?
    – training minds to see fantasy as true, indoctrinating minds in denial of reality, teaching inhuman
principles of bigotry, injustice, and lies.

    g. What is important in life?
    – Life! (duh!)

  6. rikitiki says

    - oh, and by Life, I mean the same thing as stated throughout the
Bible: with the first breath, of course.

May I just say what a comfort to discover an individual who actually knows what they’re discussing online. You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people really need to check this out and understand this side of the story. I can’t believe you aren’t more popular because you certainly possess the gift.
