The Reading List, 3/26/2014

I share a lot of links on Twitter and Facebook that I don’t blog about because I don’t have much to add. The reading list is a periodic feature where I share those links with my blog audience too. Of course, you’re still welcome to follow me on Twitter.

It gets it wrong in places, but can I tell you just how much I love Mass Effect for all the different types of people involved in the story? I’m mostly an occasional gamer (my girlfriend is the hardcore player), but I started the series back in December and am now working my way through the third one. The story’s engaging, I can have a fully-clothed female character without a huge rack (and I do!), I can have a gay shuttle pilot land me for terrifying missions. There are giant, patriarchal, sentient frogs!

It’s not perfect, but I think it’s the closest out of any of the games I know of to something that presents a diverse set of people and viewpoints and does so well.
