Reap Responds

Reap Paden has left a comment on yesterday’s post about his public temper tantrum. Since I don’t have much time or attention for writing today, I thought I’d respond in detail.

Effective = Bringing an issue to such a childish level that it causes others to make mature choices.

I suggest you consult with an expert in human development. Petitions that provide detailed and reasoned lists of grievances are generally not considered within the capabilities of anyone we reasonably call “children”.

I do appreciate Vacula’s decision to step down, though. It was very much the right thing for the SCA.

You already lost Stephanie. You are just too damn dumb to figure it out.

Well, if I’m that dumb, you’re going to have to spell it out for me. What have I lost? Be precise.

Listen to this well-
I don’t give a fuck what you say I don’t give a fuck what you do.

I didn’t keep track, but I’m pretty sure someone can come up with a count of exactly how many “fuck”s you gave in that podcast. Pro tip: It looks a little silly to swear about someone profusely in public, then pretend to be indifferent.

There is nothing you can do to stop me from doing/saying what I feel needs to be said. I’m one of those people you won’t make quiet.

Oh, trust me. You being exactly as loud and as open about your feelings as you are suits my purposes just fine right now. You see, one of the problems we’ve had in dealing with the issues in our communities is that no one was willing to talk about them. Having the arguments out in the open is perfect.

You can’t win

I strongly suspect you couldn’t articulate my goals honestly and correctly if you tried. Wanna try? Then we can talk about whether they’re within reach.

It doesn’t matter what simpletons like you say about me.

As much as I laugh when someone tries to use “Ur dum” as an insult directed at me, you are right about one thing here. You speak for your behavior far more eloquently than I ever could. Really, I should just stick to quoting you.

Intelligent people will figure it out while you spin your wheels trying to make yourself look good.

Spinning my wheels would mean I was staying in one place. If I weren’t accomplishing anything, you’d have no reason to be upset. Therefore…feel free to get help with the conclusion.

Also, as for looking good, I’m not the one trying to tell the world that I am the person to be angry at, the person who has managed all this stuff that you’re upset about. One doen’t get 900 assenting signatures on a petition by standing up and going it alone. This is a lot of people doing the work.

Anytime you open that hole under your nose about me and I hear about it, I will have a reply to it.

Promise? Pretty please? Will it be as good as this?

In the future if you don’t want to be called a bitch I would suggest you refrain from being one, seems simple enough to me. Even you should be able to figure it out.

This must be me being dumb again. Define “bitch”. What rules do you think a woman needs to follow in order for you to kindly and generously refrain from calling her one?

Gotta run, blog to write and radio to do later today. Idle hands and all that …I’ll be sure to address your opinion of my opinion.

Funny, I’ll be at a taping of our local humanist group’s television show, talking about women in secularism. Race you to changing the zeitgeist?

Now you go back to gloating over shit that should make you embarrassed

Silly, I’m not gloating. I’m innoculating.  I’m pointing out to people that all the noise you make, as ugly as it is, is just that. I’m reminding them that they’ve been doing the work, and they are winning. It isn’t gloating to help people appreciate their own power so they’re more ready to use it again. It’s strategy.

I’m buying up shares of a company that makes raingear. I’m gambling on a huge spike in raingear sales due to my prediction of an incoming typhoon of impotent rage spittle.

  2. besomyka says

What a sad little person. Reminds me of a Jonathan Coulton song:

Every time I ride past your house I forget it’s you who’s living there
Anyway I never see your face cause your window’s up too high
And I saw you shopping at the grocery store
But I was far too busy with my cart to notice
    You weren’t looking at me

This one is not about you
You can put that in your pipe and smoke it
This one is not about you
Baby, you can take that to the bank
Shove it up your big fat ass

The first step is admitting you have a problem. A petty impotent rage problem.

So true, seeing the view of some slymepitters on what you or the ‘hive mind’ want to achieve is usually the best laugh of the day. They really haven’t a clue, if they did maybe reap and the slime detractors would have a chance of winning. Well if they knew what the ‘goals’ were and if they had more than 36 noisy toddlers on their side (36, the number in the petition against you!)

This is one of the reasons I rarely use foul language; if done correctly, the content of the message can be far more damaging than the tone. Excellent work, Zvan!

  5. Feline says

He’s, like, the saddest of sods…
    I’d mock him, but I don’t know how, he’s already been there…
    I admit defeat.

  6. Bjarte Foshaug says

That’s right, Einstein, the only reason more people aren’t coming over to your side is that you haven’t cursed and shouted enough. Also, I suggest you try printing out a few pictures of your opponents and trow some darts at them. That should definitely teach them a lesson.

  7. says

Vacula and Paden suggested I go on Reap Sow Radio together with Vacula. I don’t see why I’d spend my time raising Paden’s profile more than he’s doing himself. He seems to be doing a good enough job carving out his niche as the secular community’s Rush Limbaugh.

  8. mandrellian says

Tiny suggestion: next time you get a response from Captain Dummy-Spit, just quote it verbatim without a comment. Maybe he’ll start and argument with himself!

  9. says

This guy seems to have a Bryan Fischer-level obliviousness to his own internal contradictions. He goes on a vulgar 10 minute rant calling everyone who disagrees with him “bitches” and “motherfuckers” and “retards,” then swears he doesn’t give a damn about the object of his tirade and then calls them childish. I’ll take weapons-grade psychological projection for $1000, Alex.

And don’t even get me started on the chutzpah it takes to invite Jason on to a radio show hosted by someone who just delivered that disgusting tirade at him and his friends. I didn’t have a clue who Reap Paden was before this all started; I’m starting to see why.

  10. Noneya says

You obviously have not a clue how you are setting yourself up. I can see clearly that you haven’t taken the time to learn about who it is you think you are attacking. What you like to call a temper tantrum, is a character he does weekly. I can guarantee you don’t elevate his blood pressure on any level. I guess you could say he is the king of feminist’s. He is not going to talk to you with a soft touch, just cause you’re a female. He is not going to tip toe around the issue to save anyone from hurt feelings. He stands up for what he feels is right, and honestly you lame wenches set out after Justin like a maggot to meat. I feel because you knew he would back down. If he was all that you accuse, then he would be hear screaming about the debutante’s you think you are. He is not. So, chew well cause you bit of a little to much this time. I hope you have a thick skin, and a sense of humor. I’ll enjoy watching.

  11. Aratina Cage says

you bit of a little to much this time.

    *covers mouth with hand*
    Bwaahahaha!

I hope you have a thick skin, and a sense of humor. I’ll enjoy watching.

Ah, so it’s back to threatening the use of misogyny to get your way, is it? You’re a little late, noneya; the slimepit got there first.

  12. says

If you people are “the true leaders” of the movement, then get off your high school behaving asses, and focus on the actual movement. You are looking so lame, cause all your focus is on high school drama.

  13. says

@15: Noneya, what you have said is almost exactly what I’ve heard before as a defense for people like Rush Limbaugh: Oh, they’re just characters! They don’t sugarcoat anything for teh femalez! I’m sure.

  14. says

If you people are “the true leaders” of the movement, then get off your high school behaving asses, and focus on the actual movement.

Can I throw poo at your house, then accuse you of being petty when you complain about it?

  15. says

I had never before heard of Reap Paden. I had never before encountered his unique brand of discourse.

Now, thanks to this post and its predecessor, I can never say that again. That blissful ignorance of mine is spoiled forever.

Since it’s customary, I think I’ll blame Rebecca Watson.

    CURSE YOU, WATSOOOOOOON!

  16. says

Throw poo? Really? I’m sorry I gave you to much credit for high school drama. I should have knocked it down a few (more like 5 or so)years. I’m rubber and you’re glue. Neener! Neener! You can’t touch me. Idiots.

  17. Rob says

    Bethhedrick:

    Reading comprehension – fail.
    Irony – fail.
    Empathy – fail.
Self awareness – test not completed (but not looking good).
Cognitive dissonance – My scoring sheets not clear is a high score a pass or a fail Stephanie? I want to, like you know, hang with the groupthunk.
Lamest ass ever defence of a waste of space – pass.

  18. says

There really needs to be a word for this kind of behavior, where the ones accusing others of being childish are the ones acting in the most childish manner. Maybe Rich Hall can come up with a sniglet for it.

  19. Soren says

I am a little confused, Noneya or Beth Hedrick accuses Aratina Cage of assuming she (Beth) is a man.

Where does that happen, all I see Aratina talk about is misogyny, and that surely isn’t making any assumptions on the gender of the misogynist?

Is it just the same weak – I’m female, so I can’t be sexist – excuse?

  20. says

You really must live in one hell of a warped world. No, I don’t hate women. I hate women that feel they deserve special treatment, because they are women. I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid. Geek squad, you may continue, but please don’t breed.

  21. says

@Soren, The way I read it was that it seems Beth decided that Aratina ‘called’ her a man by saying ‘she’ was capable of misogyny… So same weak excuse.

  22. says

I should have knocked it down a few (more like 5 or so)years.

That’s where you stopped dong spelling, right?
    And probably education in general.
Beth, people calling you a misogynist or accusing you of misogyny don’t make an assumption on your gender. You could be an eternal sexless unicorn for all that matters (I’m sure you shit rainbow’s), misogyny is set of opinions and behaviours.

As for Reap Paden, not giving a fuck and replying every time somebody writes something seems a bit like a contradiction to me. It’s worse than the car with the “gay love” bumper sticker and the rosary hanging from the mirror.

  23. says

Hmm Beth is spouting out MRA terms now.. White Knighting is probably the stupidest concept they have.

I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid

How exactly am I supposed to ‘get laid’ with virtual people on the internet? Especially since they probably live 1000′s of miles away and could be of any gender! I’ve no idea if the commenters on here are male, female or anything in between.

  24. says

    Beth Hedrick wrote:

I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid. Geek squad, you may continue, but please don’t breed.

Says the woman accusing others of being childish. As I said, there really should be a word for this. Actually, it occurs to me that there is one, and I used it above: projection.

  25. opposablethumbs says

bethhedrick is almost funny already – and in just a few short comments, too! If there’s a Chill bingo card we must have it half filled in by now. “I don’t hate women [so I can't be misogynist]” … any male feminist just “hopes to get laid” … testerical ranter is “just saying [boring misogynist shit] to get a reaction, ha ha you fell for it” … seriously, are you ticking the golden oldies off a list?

  26. says

I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid. Geek squad, you may continue, but please don’t breed.

Something noticable about this accusation is that a great proportion of our approved male chorus seems to be in stable marriages and relationships. So are quite a lot of the shrill man-hating feminists, most of them in heterosexual ones as well.
So, the good thing about those men Beth hates so much is that they hardly seem to exist.*

*Not meant to diss the singles amongst us. Just noticing that the cliché and reality don’t hold much in common. I actually think that we’re pretty good at spotting actual “white knights” and make them change their mind or internet hangout.

  27. B-Lar says

No, I don’t hate women. I hate women that feel they deserve special treatment, because they are women. I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid.

I dont hate women; I just hate the women who dont agree with me. Also, I hate the men who dont agree with me. I hate them because they say I am wrong to hate them and I am too principled to treat women like people because they are bitches and IhatethemIhatethemIdontcarewhatyousaybecauseIcantbewrong.

  28. says

Well, I didn’t come to get kudo’s, and I didn’t come to make anyone see the light. I came just to kill some time, with a bunch of twits I knew I could get to respond. Thanks! See ya soon, or not.

  29. Matt Penfold says

I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid

I think you need to provide evidence to support your assertion that men are here to get laid.

  30. Matt Penfold says

Well, I didn’t come to get kudo’s, and I didn’t come to make anyone see the light. I came just to kill some time, with a bunch of twits I knew I could get to respond. Thanks! See ya soon, or not.

I can only presume that you came here to demonstrate that there are women who are as stupid, ignorant, bigoted and generally fucking useless as Reap Paden. I am not sure why you felt the need to demonstrate this, since it is something we are already well aware of. I presume is because not very bright.

Still, nice of you to admit you came here to troll, on top of already admitting you engage in sock-puppetry. It just confirms that you really have no idea how to behave decently.

  31. says

Maybe Beth’s throwing out vacuous, foolish comments so that Stephanie will have some suitable material for criticising and fisking in her next blog post. After all, that method worked successfully (?) for Reap, didn’t it? Didn’t it?

  32. No Light says

Beth – does your mommy know that you’re online instead of doing your maths homework?

I know that being 12 is hard. Caught between childhood and adulthood, your body changing, all kinds of strange new feelings and emotions, getting crushes on older boys (like Reap ‘King of Feminists’ Paden) and so on.

Don’t worry, it won’t last forever! That “high school drama” you’re so eagerly anticipating will be here before you know it!

Just remember though, it’s important to apply yourself in high school, to work hard as well as having fun. You’ll need to work. on your spelling and grammar, learn effective debating skills (Debate Club is great for developing your speaking style too), and study how critical thinking can help you make effective decisions and cogent arguments.

Best of luck Beth! Now do your homework, or you’ll get held back a year. I know fractions are tricky, but ignoring homework to mouth off at grownups won’t make that homework go away. If you get an F your mommy will almost certainly ground you, and you’ll miss Becky’s sleepover :-(

  33. says

Following Beth’s link to her facebook profile I’m suddenly concerned. She’s friends with two people I know, both of them leaders in the Secular Woman organization. Beth, are you a part of Secular Woman?

  34. says

Timid Atheist, when Secular Woman started, a certain sexist meme was triggered in some people. It’s the one that goes, “Multiple women? Overlapping missions? They must be in competition. They must hate each other. Catfight!” In other words, some people assumed that Secular Woman was somehow the anti-Skepchick or “the good feminists”. To the best of my knowledge, no one in Secular Woman did anything to promote this idea, and several countered it, even if not addressing it explicitly. Still, the organization ended up with a few fans for that reason among the many people who support them for their mission.

    I hope that helps.

  35. Aratina Cage says

    Wait, wait! What?

    Dumb-ass I am noneya, and I’m a woman! –bethhedrick / noneya

“I’m a woman! Hear me roar!”
*gasp* You’re a WOMAN???????????? Wow, did you ever get me!!!!!!! (LOL but you are a silly specimen.)

You assumed I was a male for not jumping on your happy crap band wagon. –bethhedrick / noneya

You are seriously talking to me? **I** assumed you were a male? Where? Oh, that’s right–you made that up. I’ll also just mention for your information that the slimepit itself was started by a woman, and a lot of good that did to stop them from threatening to start or to escalate their misogynistic rantings every time a woman dared to speak up about feminism and/or the intersection of misogyny, sexism, and atheism.

Now I shall continue reading the rest of the thread after beth/noneya began her blinkered bellyaching.

  36. Aratina Cage says

I am a little confused, Noneya or Beth Hedrick accuses Aratina Cage of assuming she (Beth) is a man.

Is it just the same weak – I’m female, so I can’t be sexist – excuse? –Soren

I was just as confused. I had to reread beth’s little “gotcha!” comment about four times before it clicked that she was talking to me. I’m still laughing over it, too.

@Soren, The way I read it was that it seems Beth decided that Aratina ‘called’ her a man by saying ‘she’ was capable of misogyny… So same weak excuse. –oolon

That’s the only thing I can think of as well to explain beth’s behavior. And to think, she called me a “dumb-ass”. *snicker*

  37. Pteryxx says

What is this I don’t even… haters really think women are like Highlanders?

This has been yet another edition of “I threw poo at the walls, and now people are mad… THIS MEANS I WIN!!”

Tune in next week for more boringly predictable trolling shenanigans.

  39. IslandBrewer says

So, I decided I would go back and listen, as much as I could stomach, and read what Reap originally had to say, before everything became invective. You know, I thought, he might have actually had a point, right or wrong, and just got mad that he was dismissed, and it all went downhill from there.

I couldn’t find it. If there was anything substantive he was trying to say, other than Justin Vacula had been evilly smeared, all the A+ feminazi FTBullies (is that still the current term? Let me know if there’s a new one.) are bitches, and his Free Speech (TM) will not be repressed, I couldn’t find it.

  40. NoxiousNan says

    @#15 Noneya:

    “king of feminist’s (sic)”
    “lame wenches”
“He is not going to talk to you with a soft touch, just cause you’re a female.”

LMAO!! Are you trying to ride Paden’s coattails to infamy?

    @#17 bethhedrick:

You assumed Aratina assumed you were a man. No such thing happened. Read Aratina’s comment again. Oh, you’re such the little trickster, you are. Stop worrying about other peoples’ humorous abilities because your…sleight of pen was absolutely hysterical (though I suspect not in the way you think).

I must read on for your next tidbit; it’s bound to be a hoot.

  41. Zigbot says

True, but on the other hand, it would totally explain Beth’s weird anxiety over people thinking she was a man.

Is there no end to you misogynistic asswipes?

  44. Tony •Prom King of Sunnydale High• says

Geek squad, you may continue, but please don’t breed.

Given that you’re speaking to yourself, I must ask you to follow this advice. There are enough small minded, woman hating, scumbags on this planet already (a group to which you and Reap clearly are swimming in). We don’t need innocent children indoctrinated in your hateful ways.

  45. Tony •Prom King of Sunnydale High• says

    Jason:

    (Have we hit peak troll!?)

If you haven’t, perhaps you all should give the Peak Troll winner some award.
Something in honor of the top 5 trolls/slymepitters, maybe.

  46. Illuminata, Genie in the Beer Bottle says

He stands up for what he feels is right, and honestly you lame wenches set out after Justin like a maggot to meat.

So, to you, posting a woman’s home address and a pic of her home to a forum of people expressing their wishes they she be silenced is him standing “up for what he feels is right”?

And, to you, its a bad thing that a person with such a complete disregard for the safety of others is no longer in a position of power that would give him access to more personal info?

Says a lot about you. And none of it good.

  47. says

I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid.

Okay, beth, what sort of groups SHOULD we hang with when we want to get laid?

Or is beth just upset because men who want to get laid don’t hang onto her?

  48. Brownian says

I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid.

By this, of course, bethhedrick is referring to the men who fought against harassment policies at atheist conferences specifically claiming it would make it harder for them to get some action.

  49. says

I hate women that feel they deserve special treatment…

Wait, lemme guess…you don’t hate gays either, but you hate gay people who fight for “special rights” to be treated like the rest of us, right?

By this, of course, bethhedrick is referring to the men who fought against harassment policies at atheist conferences…

I just had a look at the original comment, and I really don’t think that’s what she meant.

  50. Brownian says

I just had a look at the original comment, and I really don’t think that’s what she meant.

No? Because of the two possibilities: the men who actually claimed harassment policies would limit their opportunities to get their dicks wet, and the ‘beta male’ PUA trope who befriends women in order to get in their pants; there’s only solid evidence for one of those, and it isn’t the type of man typically associating with Atheism+.

  51. says

Brownian, read her comment #30 for the full context:

No, I don’t hate women. I hate women that feel they deserve special treatment, because they are women. I hate men that hang on to groups like this in hopes to get laid. Geek squad, you may continue, but please don’t breed.

She’s clearly referring to the A+ women she’s trashing here, and the men who want to be with them. If she’s actually referring to the other group of men who hate the A+ women, then she’s a piss-poor writer who can’t get her meaning across.

  52. Brownian says

She’s clearly referring to the A+ women she’s trashing here, and the men who want to be with them.

Raging Bee, I’m taking the piss out of her, and I’m sorry I caught you in the stream.
