Who said it?

Here’s a bit of a riddle for some of you. Who said the following?

I don’t want to go to a trade war, I want to beat China. I want to go to war with China and make America the most attractive place in the world to do business.

Need a hint? He also said this:

I do not want to make black people’s lives better by giving them someone else’s money, I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money.

These and the rest of the “Ten Craziest Rick Santorum Quotes,” including his comparison of gay marriage to 9-11, are brought to you by Comedy Network’s indecisionforever.com.

Now that must have been a tough job. I mean trying to isolate the 10 craziest Rick Santorum quotes; seriously, only 10?

My hat is off to Comedy Central for undertaking and persisting in probably the most daunting task I can imagine.

This fool is unacceptable as either president or VP. It seems that the primaries are doing more to help Obama than anything else. It looks as if we will a least bad choice again. There are some signs that the president is learning how to do the job. Maybe he can do the right thing more often if elected.

Maybe it’s time to start a new party, all the Secularist, Humanist, Atheists and whatnotists should put their money where their month’s are and form a new political party and give the people a better choice. It would be awesome to watch (form the safety of UK shores) it’s time you had another revolution, you did the last one so well.

Wait… if he didn’t mean a trade war, did he mean an actual war? Was he saying that he wanted to literally invade the most populous country in the world just because they’re economic competitors? Is the USA supposed to be a more attractive place to do business because China has been reduced to radioactive slag? (Sucks for the American cities that China manages to nuke back, but what are you gonna do?)

Or does he just not understand the term “trade war”?

Is it bad that appalling ignorance in a presidential candidate is the optimistic interpretation?

    davidct @2 –

It looks as if we will a least bad choice again.

This is actually baked right into our Constitution. We are almost guaranteed to have only two possible choices, neither of which are really the ones any of us want, and we muddle along as best we can with them. It’s a function of our political process, and understanding that fact has made me feel somewhat better about our nation’s dysfunction. Because it’s systemic and it’s been there basically since Andrew Jackson. And before that the power was controlled entirely by the wealthy, so it’s not like it was actually better, just the choices were constrained to being Revolutionaries of a particular stripe.

And if you think there was a Golden Age sometime in the past when America was better at choosing leaders – pick any era and look at what was said about that particular president. Unless the president had been assassinated, or has left office and people are looking back fondly in comparison to the “idiot” in office now, most of what you’ll read about him from his contemporaries is abjectly negative. It’s one of the constants of American history – we always hate the guy in office, and hate him somewhat less when there’s a new guy to hate.

Tired of all the partisan bickering around elections? The corruption of money & vote fraud? Vote for Nemiah Scudder in 2012, and those problems will never rise again!

What a great fucking christian the man is!

“I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money……” – by restricting their access to educations at all levels. Jeez – public education it’s just indoctrination doncha know – says the man who went to public schools for his entire education – minus one year @ private religious HS.

Awww … I was going to have a guess there but I kept reading and then you gave it away too soon. Sigh. 🙁

“Stinkyfroth” Santorum the santorum isn’t going to be President – I’d be stunned if he even manages to get the Republican nomination – but, yikes, he sure is getting closer than is comfortable and is a very scary candidate for the job.

  8. nemothederv says

He might win the republican primary. I figure it’s about 1:2 on that.
If he does win I calculate his odds of be coming president at about 1:6.
So right now the odds would be about 1:12.
Considering who this guy is and everything that he has said
    this is far too likely.
Doesn’t the fact that about 80 million people think he could be a good president scare the santorum out of you?

  9. StevoR says

    @ ^ nemothederv : Yes.

I still think those odds are overestimates (gotta be surely!!) but, yeah, that’s scary santorum alright.
