No, but I was unable to find a KJV at thriftstores, and I’m not about to buy a new one, so I ended up with a ‘new international version’ from 1984. It has interesting little lede lines -- I’m rolling Leviticus right now, and I’m trying to get as many of the ledes visible. So far, I have things like ‘The Sin Offering’, ‘Discharges Causing Uncleanness’, ‘Eating Blood Forbidden’ and so on.

I need to stop paying attention, it’s distracting me. Leviticus is one fucked up book.

    Hmmm, Leviticus 19:33:

When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your GOD.

I have to say, the “I am the LORD your GOD” following that perfectly reasonable line totally out of nowhere makes this so Monty Pythonesque. Way to ruin the mood, Gawd!

Yeah, I’m reading a silent ‘so there’ behind that statement -- as in, ‘Shellfish are horrible, they taste like crap and nobody should eat them. I am the LORD your GOD, so there!’ Less fear-inducing, more petulant.
Leviticus is fucked up, I can’t remember if Dana Hunter finished her Terrible Bible Stories on Leviticus yet, I know she got through Genesis and Exodus, but I do believe she was expecting Leviticus to be a lot worse than both.

Judges is the worst of all. The Levite and the concubine, oh, so disgusting. Yeah, go ahead, gang rape her all night, and in the morning, cut her up into 12 pieces, because nothing says “important message!” like rotting body parts.

While it’s made fairly clear that the woman who was gang raped all night is in grievous condition in the morning, it never says she was actually dead prior to be carved up for Israelite Express.

caine @3: That’s a great example of why some folks like to call the Bible “the Big Book of Multiple Choice”. It contains decent sentiments (like that one), and horrific sentiments, and just plain bizarre stuff, and… well, apart from anything else, you can find a Bible passage to support pretty much any position whatsoever. It’s no surprise that Xtians can’t agree with themselves about what the Word Of God is or says.
